I downloaded an action and want to install it into PSE2. Is there an easy way to do this? I have the .atn file in the right folder but Elements doesn’t see it.

Dick,

Elements, on its own, can’t play actions. You need an external plugin. Something like : http://www.geocities.com/rnlnero/PE2stuff2.html
Or Richard Lynch Hidden Elements.

Also, note that not all Actions will function because they use command that do not exist in Elements. If they use commands that exist only in Photoshop, then they won’t run under Elements.

Most actions can be adjusted…In fact, I’ve not met one that can’t.

I don’t know that you can play an action without getting help from Richard (his interface) or Ling (her interface) to play the actions. I think they need to be written into an xml file first in addition to the action being placed in the Presets>Photoshop Actions folder. This is in addition to making any necessary adjustments in the Action for Photoshop Elements.

Mark,

I suspect you are correct. I have looked at both Ling and Richard’s sites for guidance. There is no xml file associated with what I have. I was looking to put the "runny text" action into Elements.

I can run through the steps without a problem without the action. Another learning experience.
