I am playing around with a photograph and would like to add a star highlight to a lamp. I have tried a couple of things but it just doesn’t look right … I really would appreciate some help.

Wendy,

You may want to try one of these flare brushes by Karl < http://share.studio.adobe.com/axAssetDetailSubmit.asp?aID=49 22&back=http%3A%2F%2Fshare%2Estudio%2Eadobe%2Ecom%2FaxQu ickSearchSubmit%2Easp%3Ftxt%3Dflare%2Bbrushes%2Bby%2BKarl%26 allprods%3D2%26submit1%2Ex%3D32%26submit1%2Ey%3D10> from the Adobe Studio Exchange. It’s free to sign up and download. I’ve used these before to add flare to an image, just choose the brush size and the foreground color for the flare. I would place the flare on it’s own layer above the image you want to apply it, in case you want to change the opacity of it. Also, in PSE2 there are some brushes from the ‘Assorted Brushes’ drop down menu, #25 and #48 would work nicely if you don’t want to download any new ones.

Hi Barb,

Thanks for all the information … I had visited the Adobe Studio Exchange but had missed the brushes by Karl … they really are brilliant. With them and your tip about using a separate layer I have achieved just the right effect.

Thanks for all your help
