PhotoShop 7 Shape Tool – Disable Layer Mask

Lost my preferences in PS 7.
Now the Shape Tool, Rectangle Tool, etc automatically adds a layer mask. How can I disable this?

Got it, click the little icon in the top tool bar with nothing open. Tried click all of them, but I had a file open. Arrgh 🙂
