CS4 graphics move tool

Hi, CS4 is new for me and when two RGB graphics are open and I try to make a selection and then move it to the other graphic, the result is a reddish 60% opacity which does not seem right. I have tried to correct this reddish transfer but to no avail.
Help. What is new and different about CS4? I never have this problem with CS3.
