Since using Greg Georges’ 50 Fast DigiPhotoTechs, I have learned to do most editing tasks with my PhotoShopElements 1.0 (his specific reference). Current support online is for vers 2.0. Most Forum talk sounds like vers 2? Will I gain $70 benefit by upgrading? Will I have to buy another book for details?

If you’ve made it this long cruising with PSE 1, I’d suggest you hold off a little longer. Adobe will be introducing PS 8.0 before too long, and logic says a new version of Elements (3.0) won’t be far behind; 2.0 has been on the market for at least a year. Unless you find a super good buy (and $70 isn’t), I’d hold off if I were you. Several of our extremely talented forum regulars are happy as clams at high tide using their PSE 1. You’ll be able to continue to get help with it for quite a while through the forum.

Not to disagree with Beth’s advice because she is correct.

But if you shop around a little you can buy Elements 2 for less than half of what you posted. And for whatever my opinion is worth the new program is worth a lot more than that! Look for rebates for owners of previous versions.

There are new things in 2.0 and it is an entirely new program….not an upgrade.

Yes, Pete, I have found a source for PSE-2 at about $55 net. The upgrade rebate lasts until December, so to merge your advice and Beth’s, I will continue for a while longer with PSE-1. You have to know that I would hate to give up that $30 rebate. Adobe knows it too. Thanks to both Pete and Beth. Burr
