Improve Image Resolution?

I have low resolution image with many straight lines I want to improve using PS6. The lines are at various angles with different colors on each side. I cropped the image into a higher resolution new file with the right dimensions, but there are large pixels showing.

Something like several black triangles on a white background where all the edges are showing large pixels.

I can use the pen tool to fill in the color on each side of the line, but thought there might be an easier way.

How can I draw a straight line at a angle and make one side of the line one color, and the other another color? But it needs to be just a short distance past the line so as not to interfere with something else.

Draw one, clone and paint or copy and paste.

FWIW, you can’t ‘improve’ resolution’.

one color on each end of the line?
or one bi-colored line, colors run parallel over the length?

Unless I’m mistaken, he’s talking about a tri-colored line – for the sake of ease, say, a black line, with a red line running parallel on one side, and a blue line running parallel on the other?

Just a guess…

It’s the "Shell Oil" logo at http://www.shell.com/

The image is only 76 by 70 pixels (1.48K bytes). I need to make a larger image at higher resolution. This is for some employees at a Shell gas station.

Just need a methode to improve all the ragged edges so the image looks better.

I can use the paintbrush to do the job, but thought there is an easier way.

Pick your choice!

1. Find a larger one which shouldn’t be hard to find these days on internet.

2. If you can’t find one then you can always snap yourself a much better image. And these days most people (even kids and elder folks) have P&S camera.

True! And many companies offer vector files on-line of their accepted logos. I did a CD catalog for a US company that has international (mainly European) divisions and at that time they were reluctant to make the vector file logos public, or at least insecurely stored, but after a while they realized that having their trademark images in quality form available for any use was like circulating good news and released them.

Should anyone abuse the logo to effect their trademark, they have resources. Persons who wish to abuse will do it anyway. Look to the Asian counterfeiters.

Long-winded. Sorry.

Either; go here http://www.miserlymoms.com/shell_logo.jpg

or trace/redraw with a vector prog like Freehand / Illustrator

What do you plan to do with it?

Be aware that you may end up violating trademark laws if you try to fix a low-resolution logo yourself, *even if it is for a Shell station*. Big companies have VERY strict rules about the way that their logo can be used, and about precisely what colors it should be, and so on.

You’re wasting time, effort, and energy. You can get a flawless, perfect-quality vector Shell logo for free. All you need to do is contact them. Whatever you plan to use it for, the results will be better, it will conform to Shell specifications, and you will be off the hook.

I doubt I can get a perfect-quality logo with the dimensions I want. And it’s only for a single use which I doubt they care about. Big companies only go after big fish, and couldn’t care less about me. All I get out of it is free coffee and cigars.

Actually, you can.

That’s the beauty of a vector file. It can be used at absolutely any size, from postage stamp to billboard, with absolutely zero loss in quality. And you can get it for free; all you have to do is ask for it.
