Serious CS2 installation problem

I installed the CS2 tryout on my laptop, having previously removed the current CS installation. I first noticed that the readme file did not open at the end of the install, even if the checkbox was checked.

Running CS2 I set it in Tryout mode as I do not yet have received my license key. The exe opens the usual tutorial/what’s new window and at the very end pops up a warning window saying that it cannot launch the updater (and that a reinstall might solve the problem). Bridge does not launch, claiming that some DLL is missing (even though I checked it is there).

I de-installed and reinstalled CS2 several times and always get the same behavior. Help!

Hi Antonio!
I installed CS2 trial yesterday and it works without a hitch. However, I run WinXP/SP1 (I got rid of SP2 because it interfered with CS1. I suppose you downloaded it. I’ve heard that sometimes, downloads cannot be fully trusted (files are corupted).

Here is the fix from Adobe (at least for my computer) and I had three problems, two of which you are reporting:

Start computer in SAFE mode (F8)
Log into Administrator account
Browse to My Computer -> C: -> Documents and Settings Right click on All Users
Select Properties
Select the Security tab
Click on Advanced
Highlight Administrators
Check only "Replace permissions…"
Click on Apply
Click on OK
Exit out and reboot normally
Put in Photoshop CS2 disk
When menu starts, select Explore CD Contents
Open Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) CS2 folder
Open commonfilesinstaller
Double click "Adobe Common File Installer.msi" And follow the prompts from there

Is your machine installed with dot net
Adobe uses the dot net to keep people legitamate
If dot net is not installed and enabled you will have difficulties.

What is dot net? I’ve been a customer of theirs (usually direct purchase from them) since before they bought Aldus Photostyler. Their indication (to me) was that this was a permissions problem that they suspect is caused by AV software.
