I have the 30 day trial package of Elements 2. I just installed it. My Background color is green and I can’t change it. When I power up the program, right after the intro screen disappears I get this error message: "The color settings file contains settings that are not supported by this version of Photoshop running on this system. These unsupported settings will be reset to their default values". "OK" or "CANCEL" I have tried both without any change. I have removed the first installation of Elements and reinstalled…no effect…same message. The default settings are supposed to be activated by the Default icon to the lower left of the Foreground and Background icons…nothing happens. I can switch between Fore and Back, but the green color stays the same. I am using Windows XP with a Pentium 4 Processor. Can anyone help??? Thanks

There’s something about a video card coming to mind when I read this. Are you using a nice fancy one with video acceleration? I don’t quite know what I’m talking about, but there are bells going off – like I’ve read something similar before. Does this fit with equipment you have? If so, try turning off the acceleration and see if anything changes. You might also have to delete the Elements preference folder, too, before you notice a change. To do this, have Elements closed and then click on the start up icon and make a quick grab for the Control, Alt, and Shift keys. Hold all three down until you get a screen asking if you want to delete the Settings. Say Yes. And if you used the uninstaller of Windows to remove the first copy, that old preference folder is still on your machine. It doesn’t come off until you do a manual search.

And we can hope somebody else comes along with another suggestion! This is a great application, and if you could use it you’d love it. 🙂
