Buko – why would that have any relation to this problem?

The CDS code has no measurable impact on file loading.

Kim – are these files from older versions of Photoshop (that might need to update text layers)?

To Chris–
Some are from Photoshop 7. Most are from CS. Some have text layers, but most don’t. Even for those that did have text layers, the extra time needed was a second or two. So that isn’t the problem.
