I have several hundred photographs, the processing of which I need to automate. Would it be practical for me to create four actions to:

1.auto rotate and crop

2. auto enhance levels
3. save as compressed TIF (action stopping to allow me to input file name)
4. reduce image size to 400 pixels
save image as medium jpeg (action stopping to allow me to input file name)
close file

Elements 1 so far been sufficient for my needs until this. I understand that I will need a full version (not LE) of Photoshop to do this task. I might be able to get on Ebay an early full version of Photoshop. What would be the earliest version that would cope?

many thanks

Davy

You could try Irfanview (free at this location http://www.irfanview.com/ ) This allows batch:-
auto rotate and crop
save as compressed TIF
reduce image size to 400 pixels
save image as medium jpeg
It will allow progressive rename – but I don’t know about stopping to allow you to imput file name?
as far as auto enhance levels – it won’t do that although it will allow you to batch – sharpen – adjust brightness/contrast etc., but you would need to preset the amounts – certainly worth a try!!

In that case there is some information here –
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pesala/Irfan%20View/
that may help with your use of the programme..
