Whenever i open acrobat or photoshop it starts loading then locks up. I tried reinstalling, deleting all temp files and ran sevral spyware uilities. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try to defrag the HD. Also, how much memory do you have? 1GB is good, 2GB is where you "should be" for Photoshop if you have the cash. Is your PS scratch disc on the same partition as your Windows scratch disc? If so, change that.
What OS are you using? I hope it is not Win 98.
