Gurinder,

Do you also keep your hard drive DEFRAGGED? This could cause a problem with virtual memory regardless of how much you have available if not contiguous.

Bob,

The machine, which i am running Photoshop on is a new machine with a fresh install.

Gunnder,

New or not, with a 200mb file you need plenty of contiguous freespace and need to keep it regularly defragged to keep it that way. With Win2K you also want to be working logged in as the System Administrator.

Have you read the FAQ?

Anything that locks the machine, reboots it or shuts it down under NT/2K/XP has got to be a hardware error.

chris that’s what I was thinking, but why does the reset prefs keys get him past it? is he possibly bypassing a plugin or something?
