Does resampling tifs twice result in lower image quality than 1 step with the same final res?

(2 separate resamples)

4000 x 6000 (slide scan) … 1300 x 867 … 600 x 400

(1 step)

4000 x 6000 (slide scan) … 600 x 400

Would either 600 x 400 tif be better?

Several Photoshop experts claim that resampling (either up or down) in several
small steps, sharpening a little after each step, produces better results than
doing it in one step. I’ve never been able to see much advantage.

Why don’t you try it both ways and compare the images?

Funny I was thinking I’d lose quality. This is good news. I save a compressed archive tif at about 1300 x 800 pixels, requiring the extra step.

From my own experience I’d say that two steps will look better than a big step
I sharpen after each step also.

Would either 600 x 400 tif be better?
