Hi,

I’ve been tasked with changing the color from yellow to black and changing sponsor stickers for a hydroplane. I have many photos that will work, (layout and perspective are correct) but I don’t know how to make a color change, preserving highlights, etc. so that it looks realistic. I expect black might be the hardest color to change to, but I’m open for any ideas that will get me there…

Thanks in advance!

Walt

Go to your local library or bookstore and find ‘Photoshop LAB Color: The Canyon Conundrum’ by Dan Marguiles. Get ahold of that and look for the chapter on changing the color of objects in photos.

I’ve done it by duplicating layers then adusting the curves in each, it worked GREAT on a buddy’s Mustang.

I’m about to do it with my living room walls, remodeling you know… it’s cheaper than paint.

That’s actually a built in flash tool. And Flash does have a very good editor. Last time I used it, you could program the keys for PS compatibility.

get your image, add an adjustment layer, a control button for the changes and done. It’s also a built in sample. Might be as simple as inserting your own image in place of the show car image.

Try:

Image > Adjustments > Replace Color

Select the color for the object you want to change, and then selec a color to replace it with.

PS CS2

Hope that is what you needed. I did exactly what you described as a test, and it worked perfectly.
