Can’t add Text in Cropped Image (Photoshop CS)

I crop a jpeg from 4:3 to 3:2 for digital price using photoshop CS. But after cropping I can’t put in any text (like date etc) on the text layer. The cursor in text layer doesn’t seem to move or display any text even I typed. I don’t have any problems with a new image (ie I can add text on the image via a text layer).

I was also using Ps 7.0 without problem ….

Is this a bug ?

what image mode are you in? if it’s indexed color change it to rgb. if not, reset your character palette by clicking the little arrow (in the upper right of the palette) and selecting reset from the flyout menu.
