Hi

I’ve just purchased Photoshop CS so this is probably a simple question. The background default is a checkerboard pattern, how do you change this to show a clear background?

Thanks

You can change this into a plain background under the preferences. But don’t. The checkerboard indicates transparency, and is very useful. It lets you know when there is nothing available to paint or otherwise act on.

If you don’t need transparency, don’t request it when you do a file>new. You can select a white background at that point.

Thanks Don. I’ve lightened the checkerboard background so the shadows can be seen now!
