Easy way to make short animated clips

Hi,
I want to make some very short animated clips showing martial arts techniques. The animated figures will be be simple. I know how to use photoshop, but thats about it. What is the best approach to make simple animated segments? Thanks.

make each figure on a layer in PS saveit and switch to image ready window>frames
inteface is pretty self explanatory
save optimized as… will let you save as animated gif or export as swf
