Specifying Cursor Position for Type Tool

Is there a way to position the Type Tool cursor to a specific x, y position? I am working on an action to add canvas to the bottom of a photo so the user can add a caption. It would make the operation simpler if the cursor could be placed in a known location prior to text entry.
