This "oversight" has burned my a$$ from day one. Unfortunately, CS has a number of "oversights" (apparently that’s what we’re calling them now) and NO, there will be no patch or dot release (as in 8.01). Why? Because CS is just simply splendid the way it is, at least according to Adobe.
Plus, dot releases eat into profit margins. Further, if they make the present version completely usable then we might skip version 9 or CSII or whatever altogether. You may remember that this is what Microsoft did with Windows 95. It contained a number of issues that were not corrected until Win98, and while most people thought that W98 was at best a bug fix/super patch for W95, Microsoft saw it as a whole new operating system and thus another profit making opportunity. They of course charged accordingly.
Adobe has apparently learned at the feet of the master.
EDIT: Maybe they can plow some of that profit into their forum servers. This is the slowest thing on the Web today. 🙁
I guess I’ll just have to get used to it then, since our office just made the move from 5.0!? to CS. I’m guessing it will be another several years before we replace CS. That will be at least 2 or 3 generations from now.
It’s not a tragic thing, but for the comparison work that I do between two images, I just like being able to click them side by side instead of drag the images side by side.
On a plus side, the forums seem a little quicker today so far.
that’s what we’ve been told. my pet peeve is the mis-assigned accelerator key for file> save as. They made it alt-F V and assigned the normal (used by every other windows app on earth) accelerator (alt-F A) to "Open As".
