Convert Color Photo to Sepia

I’m sure this is pretty simple, but I have not been able to figure out quite how to do it. I have a color photograph in Photoshop 7.0.1 and would like to convert it to Sepia which is a brownish color sort of like an aged photo or a photo from the 1950’s.

Does anyone know the steps I need to take to accomplish this? The photo I am starting out with has greenery in it, water and my daughter with a white outfit on, holding a red flower.

Soooo many ways to do this.

1. If image is in RGB color, desaturate.
If in grayscale, change to RGB
2. Add Adjustment Layer/Color Balance
try equal parts Red and Yellow, probably 20 each and up. Or Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer, click Colorize, play around with all 3 sliders.

Of course if you want something really easy and basic, there’s always the stock action for Sepia Toning (layer) under Image Effects.

Image>Mode>Grayscale. then, Image>Mode>Duotone. Now you have total freedom as to the shades of color you want to use, and the number. (Monotone, Duotone, Tritone, etc.)
