what do you mean not working? not at all? not pressure sensitive?
If the product is similar to Wacom, there may be a software utility that allows you to add features on a program-by-program basis. Check your TwinBridge documentation.
or photoshop’s pressure options under the expanded brush menu may be off.
I’m having the same problem with a CalComp DrawingSlate II in Photoshop CS. The pen works but without pressure sensitivity. It’s on or off. The pressure works in the CalComp driver program, but not in Photoshop.
It’s on or off
which is it? did you see the options for pressure sensitivity I mentioned above?
I meant that there is no gradiation, that the pen works like a mouse, it’s on (painting) or off (no paint).
I see the settings under brush options, tilt and wheel are caution symboled, but pressure is valid. It might bear mentioning that I’m on Windows XP, with a Logitech wireless mouse too. I think I’ve ruled out any software or hardware conflicts since the calcomp driver software has a pressure test area on its window and the pressure works prefectly there.
In PS you have to switch on something like "brush dynamics" or so in the Brushes palette. I’m at work now, so I Can’t check.
That would explain why it works in other apps and not in Photoshop. Rob
Ruban and Chris – that means that the tablet driver is buggy and not supplying the correct information. I know that previous calcomp drivers worked (before they stopped making tablets). Unfortunately, I’ve never heard of TwinBridge tablets.
I may have solved this issue with my Calcomp DrawingSlate II. I have a Palm and recently updated the desktop software. It seems like it was the culprit. I noticed that both USB and serial were check (I use a USB connection to the Palm). I unchecked the serial connection on the hotsync application and now Photoshop CS is getting the pressure information. The only thing I can think to blame it on is that the Hotsync software was screwing up the signal in such a way that Photoshop didn’t get the pressure info, but did get location and pen tip. Very strange.
It works, so I’m not eager to try and break it again, but if that’s all it was maybe other folks having trouble should check for any other apps that might be accessing the serial ports. Logitech’s mouse driver may also have issues with the Calcomp driver, but I can’t be sure if that was a problem or not (doesn’t make sense that it would filter the pressure signal from the serial port either…)
It works now so I’m mostly happy, didn’t have to buy a new tablet, but wish I knew for sure what it was.
Thanks for the input.
Yes the problem was pressure sensitivity. I decided to work with it despite that and somehow it began working. I did check the brush options so thanks for telling me about that. Painter didn’t have this so I assumed PS didnt either. Thanks again 🙂
Painter’s pressure sensitivity is in the preferences. An each brush can have different functions set to pressure also.
