Insert Symbols Into Photoshop

I want to insert a symbol into my text in photoshop. If the symbol has a shortcut key then I know I can use that. However, if the symbol does not have a shortcut key how do I get it into photoshop?

In word I would go to insert>symbol>etc

Do I copy and paste from word?

You could trying copying from the Windows Character Map utlity. In Win XP it is located at Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools
