Can someone suggest why 16 bit raw files grey out when transferred to PS CS from Canon’s EOS Viewer Utility. 8 bit files can be transferred withou problems. Thanks for help.

Grey out where?

How are you "transferring" them?

Why are you suffering with Canon’s viewer anyway?

The Raw image which is converted in Canon’s viewer and then click on ‘transfer image’ to PS CS. the Tiff file appears almost totally grey, with the addition of some watery lines and a blob of various colors. However, this does not happen doing the same thing with 8 bit files. It just seems that sometimes Canon’s viewer sees colors more true to form than CS – and yes of course any required color manipulation can be done in CS. Sometimes I prefer to convert 16 bit Raw files via Canon’s viewer instead of File Browser. Thanks for your advice.

That sounds like Canon did something wrong in exporting the file.

You’ll need to talk to Canon about that.
