Is there anything that actually stops someone from posting a file? Or is it kinda like an honor system

Some news servers automatically delete any binaries that go through them to any non-binary group. Usually those stupid binary sigs get by because they’re comparatively tiny, but larger ones never make it past some of the ‘Net.

However, for those with deficient ISP servers, it’s honour system.

Usually persistan offenders start to get reported to their ISP for abuse

Easy answer is to post any image examples or otherwise to Alt.binaries.pictures.utilities its a group specifically for ANYTHING related to pictures including pictures, video, books, programs, utilities, wallpaper ect so long as its picture related its on topic.

Then just tell everyone here the subject line to look for e.g.

LaTour-Candle light image example psd file

or if you have a website post it there and put the link here.

It’s really not about the configuration of one’s news reader. It is a matter of what is appropriate.

For what it is worth, many are still on dial-up connections, and many of those pay dearly for connect time. If they are viewing/following a text-only NG, then they should not be burdened with binary posts. Simple courtesy that.

Since there are many outlets to post binaries, as Kingdom has stated, there is no excuse, other than, "oops, sorry, I didn’t know… "

That’s just the way that it is.

Other than what has been stated, nice effect.
