The Euratlas Periodical Historical Atlas of Europe project covers the European area in a broad sense, that is from the Sahara to Aland Islands and from Atlantic Ocean to the Caspian Sea and describes the political evolution of this whole and not only the surface of a modern nation. Notions such as "historical atlas of France or United Kingdom", for instance, are unrelated to this project since one of its goals is precisely to show that political units are changing and match to a view focused on present. A 100 years interval for each map of Europe makes it possible to have a synthetic vision of the last two millennia and obeys to the logic of our numerical base 10.
