I am trying to install my old PS 7.01 on a computer where I work (I have upgraded to CS at home). However, I keep getting a message that as the install wizard is starting up that "Setup has detected that unInstallShield is in use. Please close unInstallShield and restart setup". Now, I have searched my entire drive and network and cannot find any "unInstallShield" anywhere, much less figured out how to turn it off. Any help from anybody would be much appreciated. The computer, by the way, is running Windows 2000 professional.
Thanks, LJ Segil

This can be a corrupted Installer Service. Not sure if it’s that, but I once had that problem. (Win2000 too).
When starting app’s that were already installed it didn’t launch them, instead it said that the installer couldn’t continue.

This did not involve PS, but, among others, FrontPage.

I did all that Microshift advised to no avail. The cure was this: Set the pc to boot from the CD-drive, Boot from the Win2000 cd and select repair an existing Windows installation.
That solved my problem. (you must boot from the cd, not just autorun it; only booting gives the repair option).
