Turing pixel image into a vector scalable image. So that when resized will not have jagged lines etc..or blockynesss. But detail is lost in this process. e.g. THE font on your screen and all the different font sizes are e.g. a vector graphic font. I.e. scalable to different font sizes with out blockyness. There representation is not due to a crid of pixel values, rather mathamatical relationships.

Vector graphics usually take much disk less space than bitmap equivelents..

I just used CorelTrace a few minutes ago. I download a Gif of a flag from the internet…72 ppi. I needed 2-300 ppi. Options were: resampling but that would get blurry, Genuine Fractals…never tried it for this…might work…a bit of an overkill though, CorelTrace…designed exactly to do just this very thing…it does it…it did it…and its done.

Adobe Streamline is a tool for doing this.
