I’m trying to run a truly ancient version of Photoshop (4.0) on a WinXP Pro (SP 1) machine. Photoshop opens fine, but whenever I try to do anything I get this error message from MICROSOFT OUTLOOK (Outlook 2000 SP-3, 9.0.0.6627):

Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.

I don’t use Outlook for mail, Eudora is my default and they’ve been peacefully co-existing for years (I don’t even have accounts set up in Outlook). I’ve asked this same question on an Outlook group, but does anyone have any ideas why doing something in Photoshop would cause Outlook to complain (incorrectly) about mail clients and messaging requests?

Given that version 4 was used on Windows 3.1 or Windows 98 machines … it seems to me it is too old for modern computers. And the fact that there is practically nothing useful on that version … I recommend buying the upgrade right away. Once you register if you still have problems contact customer service since it would be a loading issue.
