Hi,

I’ve been searching the archives for a few days now, and can’t find the answer to this seemingly simple procedure.

I’m making an action for a text layer. How do I allow the text entry to be entered differently each time the action is played? the only thing I can figure out so far is after the action is played, click on the text layer box to EDIT the text, but surely there’s a way to enter the text as the action is being played!? Does anyone know how to do this?

I would appreciate any ideas!!
Thank you!

Ruth try putting a stop at that part of the action. If I remember, just click in the second from left box in the action list.

I did try that, but what I need is a particular font, etc., and I’m hoping there’s some way that the text can be highlighted and then put a stop that says "enter names" or something like that. Whenever I’ve tried it, I have to complete the typing each time before it will record.

Where I’ve left it right now is just to type in what I need, put a stop in that says "click on the text box in the layers and enter correct names"

I’ve run an action before that had the text highlighted so I could edit the typing, but I don’t know how to get that to work!

Ruth do you highlight the text as part of the action? If so can’t you stop it there?

nope. I tried that too. the STOP command is not available as long as the curser is inside the text box. I thought there MUST be some command I was missing somewhere during the recording process. it’s got to be an easy edit, wouldn’t you think????

for now, I’m running the action, then putting a STOP in explaining the text edit procedure.

Sorry, Ruth, I have run out of ideas. Maybe someone else will jump in with an answer.
