I have been colourising Greyscale images using PS7 selections and Colour Balance adjustment layers, using the Eraser to delete parts of mask & Paintbrush to add to mask ie Black foreground colour/White background colour. On going back to further refine these projects I have found that the Default Foreground/Background colours for masks/adjustment layers automatically switches from B/W to W/B. Even when switched manually back to B/W the icon in the corner stays W/B. For Colour balance I can do this manual switch and continue useing Eraser/Paintbrush for delete/add to mask, but am worried that in other Adjustment layers which this W/B order effects now could lead to some difficulties when using. Furthermore I am about to load CS Suite on my computer and am worried that when I open old PS7 documents that this switch will effect CS the same way, I am assuming that the default colours for Adjust Layers/Masks is B/W which is logical. How has this changed, have I inadvertently ticked something, it doesn’t seem to me to be something that could/should be changed?

That is correct. It changes because you’re targetting the adjustment layer MASK, not a normal layer.

No, this has been in Photoshop for many versions.

BTW, to switch the foreground/background colours, simply type "X"
