For anyone interested in finding out information about the developer of Picasa, Michael Herf, you can find some interesting info at the following links:

Michael Herf was a software engineer for MetaCreations when I met him in 1998. I don’t know his expertise as a photographer, but his products and writings indicate he has an incredibly deep knowledge of the aesthetics as well as the physics of photography, i.e.:
