Is there a way (in Photoshop7.0) to divide a large diagram image into, say, six pieces so that I can print out the six pages and then lay them out together as one large image?

Steve,

Take a picture into your photo editor.
Add lines where the picture will overlap, top/bottom and sides. Cut the photo into pieces in you editor to make multiple sections of the picture, leaving the drawn in overlap lines on each section of picture that you cut from the larger original. Print the pictures with the overlap lines.
Lay the pictures out on a table to the final size, overlapping the pictures.
On the top picture(s) of your overlap, where horizontal and vertical lines cross, cut out with a paper punch, single hole, at the intersection so you can see the horizontal and vertical lines on the picture below, for visual align ment.
With a very sharp knife, cut through both pictures, at the overlap line you drew and butt the final cut pictures together and mount them on a ridgid board/backing. Glue them in place. If done well you might see a very fine line where the pictures abutt or not.
Hope this helps,
