I’m very much a newbie to PS and would appreciate some guidance on a project I have in mind.
I’d like to make a couple of montages of selections from some old black and white photographs which I’ve scanned and managed to clean up in PS. What I’d like to end up with are a couple of long narrow prints, something like A1 size cut lengthwise, to make two landscape photos of approx 295mm x 840mm each.
My local shopping-mall photo print shop will accept a single digital file containing two images for printing at standard A1 size which they can then cut to the dimensions I require.
Most of the photos have been scanned at 300dpi, (but can be re-scanned at a higher resolution if deemed preferable). I have an elementary but probably adequate knowledge of how to make and save selections from the photos and (I hope) how to compose them into montages using layers.
I know I’ll strike some huge learning-curve problems along the way, but my concern at this stage is whether it is practicable to compose the two montages in PS into a single digital image at sufficient resolution for printing on A1 size paper (841mm x 594mm).
Or is there a better way to get the end products I want?
Many thanks
