Brushes are hard like a pencil in Paintbrush mode

The Paintbrush brushes are hard like for the pencil. I don’t know how this happened or how to fix it. It’s probably a simple answer, but how do I do it?

Check Image>Mode. It is probably set to Indexed. Set it to RGB, Grayscale or CMYK.
