I picked up an Canon EF 75-300mm USM Mk III lense today for just £90!!!! Second hand, but mint condition with box and caps and a couple over brand new UV filters, plus a 3 year guarentee 😀
A 12-24 would cost a fortune, wont it? The guy at the camera shop said the really wide angle lenses cost a bomb. The ones he had in stock STARTED at £300 EACH.
Pounds, OK, you’re in the UK Good. Don’t buy from shops. Buy online. I’d recommend Park Cameras (www.parkcameras.com). It doesn’t mean the ,lenses are cheap, just that they’re a *lot* cheaper. And they’ve been around quite a long time and are Canon/Nikon experts. The same with second hand. Try MXV photographic – they have a small stock, but their prices are worth waiting for if you have a specific request (www.mxvphotographic.com).
A 12-24 is *not* cheap (£469 at Park) but the 20-40 is more reasonable (£399). If that’s still too much then try the Sigma 17-35 (330 at Park) or Sigma 24-60 (£300 at Park). if all those are out of your range than the other one you might like to try is the Sigma 24-135 2.8-4.5 (£240 at Sigma).
If you check out MXV, OTOH, you’ll see that they have a Sigma 17-35
2.8-4 at £189 (stock number C25341) and a Canon 20-35 3.5-4.5 at £225
(stock number A55754) . There’s also a nice mint condition Tamron 19-35 3.5-4.5 at only £139 (stock number C25391).
Hope that helps 🙂
