I just took delivery of this camera,
and DNG 4.2, which claims to support
the 40D will not convert any of the
raw files I have shot to DNG format.

I shot some with no embedded jpeg and
some with. The only error reported is
"There was an error parsing the file".

I tried a number of preference combinations,
but no luck.

Any hints? Has anyone gotten this to work?

Thanks in advance,

Note that Adobe don’t yet support sRAW.

Otherwise, this combination works for other people.

It is a problem with the 1.0.4 firmware on the camera.

There is a workaround.

Here is an adobe forums thread that discusses it:

http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.3bb6a85c.3c033307

In that thread there is a link to a dpreview thread where a couple of people posted software that converts the raw files to one that DNG 4.2 can parse.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Hmmm few days ago I did read someone mentioned about Canon 40D and v1.04 firmware as well as some RAW problem etc.. and my Canon 40D just arrived 2 days ago and it’s v1.03 firmware.

Don’t upgrade until ACR is confirmed to work with the new version.

The software mentioned on dpreview does work for me, so I have a workaround until ACR and DNG are updated (or the firmware).

It did give me a bad moment, as I do like to shoot raw and do try to avoid the Canon software.

I usually don’t use any bundled software, and pretty careful with firmware stuff as I usually spend weeks reading all the possitives/negatives reports before going for it. We,,, I have to confress that sometime I didn’t need but I did it because too many negatives (but didn’t seem right so I had to try to see myself). <bg>

I dunno which part of the message is yours and which you quoted etc.. (if you notice your message is very strange to Usenet).

Anyway, Adobe has released newer version of ARC v4.3, Photoshop v10.1, and LightRoom v1.3
