i recently shot some jpg photos in late afternoon light on a canon 5d. when i try to open them in photoshop they are completely red – so red that they look fake or electric. when i open them in image ready, they look as they should – tones are continuous and smooth and there is a wide range of color representation other than red. when i try to go from image ready to photoshop the redness comes back. is there a way to get the picture to transfer from image ready to photoshop without the photo flipping back to the harsh/unnatural red. i can email examples. – sam

Your color profile settings in Photoshop are wrong, or you have a bad or corrupt color profile on your computer.
