Hello, All!

I need to replace my monitor. I intend to purchase something in the 20-22" range, LCD. I really want one that decently represents colors. I have a Huey so I can calibrate, although I’m not so sure how good it is as a LCD calibrator. I would like to keep the cost under $400 but I may have too many constraints? Recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Colonel Blip.

Just got the Acer AL2223W and I am pleased with it’s performance so far. I have a 2 monitor setup, using the whole screen of the 22 inch for picture in Photoshop or Elements and it is stunning. Viewing angle is an issue occasionally, but I can correct that by moving. Brightness and contrast are great and it seemed to calibrate OK with the Spyder II I use. Paid 289.99 plus shipping from NewEgg about 2 weeks ago.

I have 2 Samsungs, a 204T and a 204B. Both are excellent but the older model, the 204T seems a bit better overall. Using an Eye-One to calibrate gives perfect prints off my Canon iP8500 (using appropriate profile for the paper and printer).

I had to get an LCD recently
after some research I decided on the Samsung 491P
it has a 1500:1 contrast ratio, that was my deciding factor (cheaper ones have 500 or 800)
need to see the blacks in detail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the response time is a bit slow (2 ms)
digital or analog choices

I hate how type looks on all the LCD-make sure to use the clear type settings

had to compromise to get the better contrast and be in my price range so it’s only 19 inches but it looks bigger than my CRT 19
it rotates!! great for vertical photos

the color is nice, easy to calibrate software is included, choice of several whites by button on side

I trust the brand (my best CRT was Samsung) heard the Dell are the same brand

I hope their monitors are more reliable than their cell phones.
