Hi, anyone knows how photoshop compute RGB to HSL in the "Color" layers blending mode? It is not consistent with the formula you can find on the internet…

Thanks,

As far as I know, it uses the normal HSL calculation, but I have not verified this in detail.

Can you give an example?

Base Layer (bottom layer)
r1 = 255;
g1 = 123;
b1 = 65;
Blend Layer(top layer)
r2 = 45;
g2 = 255;
b2 = 200;

Usually the Color Blend mode (H2, S2, L1) gives you RGB(65, 255, 207), but Photoshop gives you something like (14, 225, 170);

Yes, and this is not the case. Although I can confirm the behavior, I can’t explain it at the moment. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

In Lab mode, the Lightness, a, and b channels are combined as you would expect (L1, A2, B2), but not in RGB mode, where the lightness and saturation values are not what I would have predicted.
