I have just purchased Photoshop CS.
I have barely scraped the surface of what this program can do, soooooo………

I want to obtain a good tutorial or manual!
What do you people recommend?
An e-book would be cool, but I’m open to any format.

Many thanks

F1 is always a good start…
Adobe’s site has many good tutorials in their Expert Center section….

Colin Smith’s book is pretty good.

I’m partial to Ben Willmore’s PSCS Studio Techniques
because it tells you why something works, not just
how to create a limited specific effect, but it really depends on what you want to do with PS– Illustration? Photography? Technical or Scientific imaging?

If Epson is still offering their "Print Academy" on their website it will likely jumpstart you by watching how certain things are done.

If one were reasonably satisfied with Photoshop 7 would the better investment be Nik filters or the upgrade to CS? Any notion on when CS2 (or whatever they will call it) might come out?

I would upgrade to CS. There is a lot of great stuff in it for digital Photographers. As for Ink’s never really saw anything that I couldn’t do easily in Photoshop especially for the high price they seem to think their stuff is worth. They have the worst sharpening plug-in I have ever seen.

As for CS 2 I would say probably late next year is the earliest we will see anything or could reasonable start to think about it being time to start seeing or hearing anything.
