Hi,
You can see a crappy rendition of it here:

Or download a slightly less crappy version of it here:

For some reason this pattern seems not to make the trip to Google very well. It looks decent enough when I ‘save for web’ but even though Google does a pretty good job of maintaining the size the quality suffers.

Anyway, if you guessed less than a long time then your wrong. This is my first attempt at a pattern and I thought I would just drag it from AI to PS but apparently that is beyond the gods of Adobe even in version CS2. So my question it; what do I need to do to get this swatch into Photoshop so it can be used?

Thanks,
Ron

A series of overlapping radial fills?

1) Save AI file.
2) Open file in Photoshop.
3) There is no step three, even for non-deities.

It comes in as a bitmap – a bitmap.

For purposes of shading there are no overlaps. I may change the way I do this as I get better but when I drew it up I imagined it as non-overlapping.

can you notice a stereoscopic effect?

Hi Katwoman,
I wouldn’t say stereo but it has decent separation. I am a bit disappointed because I hoped it would reverse but I have not figured out how to do that yet. I originally cutout the shapes using a quarter point stroke, which was a mistake, so have fixed that and redid the shading. Not withstanding the unimaginative color scheme and its failure to reverse I consider it pretty good for a first pattern. It is now solid so I have uploaded it again in the form of a single tile so if anyone wants to use it; it can be downloaded here:

If anyone wants the vectors then contact me by email.

Brgds,
Ron
