I would like to edit photos but cannot justify the cost for Photoshop. One of the things I would like to do is cut or paste parts of the photo. Is there another application that will do basics at a lower cost? Thanks

Almost any image manipulation package can do that: Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, The GIMP, Ulead PhotoImpact, Mindscape FotoEdit DeLuxe, PhotoLine 32 and many more.

There are quite a few "low cost" programs available, but the ones that are "approaching"
professional capabilities are

Picture Window Pro
http://www.dl-c.com/Temp/

Corel PhotoPaint (part of the Corel Draw v12 "Suite") http://www.corel.com/

Serif PhotoPlus
http://www.serif.com/photoplus/photoplus9/index.asp

The GIMP (free … but pretty much a "rolling Beta" …) http://www.gimp.org/

Of all of these, I’d probably choose Picture Window or Picture Window Pro.

Crayons? Is this the kind of answers expected here?
"TheOne"…. bad nick for a useless aid…

Photoshop Elements is the best alternative to Photoshop
itself, at a fraction of cost. For house users and a great amount of professionals, not involved in color correction or pre-press tasks, Elements is an excellent product.

Sorry about my "question" about "answers". The Filter will do better job. People talking in a desert doesn’t hurt… 😀

YOU told the OP he could get PSCS for cheap on eBay, I said : "yeah right" followed by: "…". This usually means "you are full of it", you know, like when somebody says :"sure" followed by a long silence. You advise people to go on eBay and buy pirated software, not me, let’s make that clear.

Bruce,

Try Corel PhotoPaint 10. You can probably pick it up for little money on Ebay. (I think v.10 was the last version that sold separately from Corel Graphic Suite). I use it for creating magazine covers and photo editing. It uses Photoshop plugin filters, so you have a lot of versitility with it. It has good support for 4-color printing and color management. I have never had a complaint about it from the printer I work with, who, BTW, prefers Adobe products to anything else.

Also, the interface is easy to use.

Dobri Frederic

Can see the stars in the night sky from where you are?

At some time when you can see the stars in the sky or some other mundane or profound presence that poses and promotes thoughtfulness try this:

Imagine you, your history and those attributes that make you you.

In your village or town or city

In your county and country

In your earth and yes, even to those very stars in the sky – you are unique

The only one in history, now and future It is wonderful

Keep this in mind and the very next person you meet has exactly those same wonders and uniqueness

Great innit?

Arty

(please excuse my indulgence – I don’t usually get so profound it must be the meatballs I had at teatime)
