Hi to all;

I have a 8" x 10" retail package (with high res. photos) ((approx. 10 megs total)) – would like to make a 24" x 36" poster to be printed on a large format, inkjet printer.

If I resize to 24" x 36" the file is huge!

Should I flatten and send to Pagemeaker… Help, help…

For that size poster, you’d probably be OK with a file resolution of 170ppi (or less). That will help reduce file size.

And if there’s any text involved – keep it vector and it wont matter what the file resolution is- it could be 2ppi and still get crisp text.

Check with the guy who has the large format inkjet.

72ppi might even be enough.

ditto on the vector text.

What is the size of your original image? Upon this it depends if you really can go up to 24×36".

If you post the data I can tell you if it makes sense or not.

After a certain point in resizing you can get jagged edges which by no means look good.

Forget 72dpi for printing that poster size. With 72dpi you will get a pixelized print. That is for sure.
