Is this screen printing? If so, are the graphics something made with illustrator? The reds and yellows of this shirt seem to be more complex than what I see from a typical screen print, and I would really like to know how this was done. I am familiar with Illustrator and Photoshop but I don’t know anything about getting such shirts made. Thanks for any insight.

Impossible to tell from the picture, but yes, it could be.

Most likely the sophisticated effect you see, if ti is screen printed, was done by a high-end screen printer skilled in reproducing four-color process with fine halftones.

You can make an image in CMYK (NOT RGB!) in Photoshop, then have it screen printed like that. However, the majority of small mom-n-pop screen printers can not reproduce CMYK designs or designs with subtle colors or halftones. You will need to find a high-end screen printer.

Keep in mind that high-end screen printers will not do small runs of CMYK or complex halftone work; you should expect that a screen printer capable of that quality work will have minimum orders that are fairly high.

Digital textile printers are now available. For T-shirts the starting price is about 24,000 Euros.
