hi to all…

i have (maybe) a stupid question but.. with grayscale images i have no problems 🙂
when working with grayscale, i use this…

1 bit -> black and white
2 bit -> 4 colors (of gray)
4 bit -> 16 colors (of gray)
8 bit -> 256 colors.. (of gray)

but what about rgb and cmyk?

for rgb i get
1 bit -> 3 colors (red green and blue)
2 bit -> …

am i doing smth wrong or that’s the way it is?

Each channel is the same as grayscale, but you must multiply the number of colors in each channel.

rgb
1 bit -> 2 colors per channel -> 2*2*2 = 8 colors
2 bit -> 4 colors -> 4*4*4 -> 64 colors
8 bit -> 256 colors ->256*256*256 = 16777216

cmyk is the same, except you multiple 4 times, and many of the CMYK color combinations result in the same color.
