Is PhotoShop (7.0) the best tool to do this?

I want to make a header with the rounded inner angle (and a drop shadow) as is done on this page:

http://www.annapolisyc.org/

Should I use Illustrator or PhotoShop to create this object? Are there tutorials on how to create (combine the rectangles with square corners and the rectangle with rounded corners)?

Either one though I suspect they used Photoshop. Could also be done in Freehand or Fireworks or maybe Dreamweaver? Just make a big rectangle with rounded corners and chop off the right side and bottom. Use that to delete or mask out the main black area and add drop shadow inside.

I don’t care for that site though. On my monitor there’s a large useless black area filling the rightmost third of the screen.

Almost any drawing program could do this. I’d use PhotoDraw 2 because I know it so well. Even Xara X could do it well.

You can easily create rounded corner rectangles by selecting the rectangle tool (then right click on a PC) to see all the options and choose "Rounded Rectangle Tool"

In PhotoShop I would then use: Layer/Layer Style>Bevel and Emboss. to create the 3D embossed affect.

Is that what you want? Good Luck.

More specifically, this is what I want to do with either PhotoShop (7.0) or Illustrator:
