I want to be able to use the *move tool to sort through my layers. Like the arrow tool in flash. Is there a setting or a mode……..Some work-around?
Working on a project w/ poorly labeled layers can be a total pain i the neck, sifting through the list.

So what do you guys think?
Is there an easy answer to this problematic dillema?

much thanks!

What do you mean by "sort through"? In Windows if you Ctrl-right click (or right click with the Move tool) on an object or pixel you will get a context menu that allows you to select the layer the object is on. Command-Control on Mac.

Or, checking Auto-select Layer with Move tool will automatically send you to the layer but I find that can cause other problems when you don’t want to be sent to a layer automatically.

Is that what you’re after?

Hold down the Ctrl key and left click on something in the layer you want. You can also set the options for the Move Tool to auto select layers. Something I found to help me organize layers are "Layer Sets".

there isnt anything in PS like what you use in Flash. Ya basicaly have to just drag your layers to where you want them…there is no icon to "arrange" them as you would in flash. IT sucks…just tell who you work with to NAME their layers…and also use layer sets to organize your work.
