I have been sent some photoshop files in DAT format.
Lemme guess: You have been emailed some Photoshop files, and when you receive the email, you see nothing but a file name ending in .DAT.
The person who emailed you the file is using Microsoft Outlook Express or Outlook, and has set up the program to use "rich text" format for messages. This causes the message and all attachments to be encoded in the proprietary TNEF format.
Talk to whoever sent you the files. Explain that that person needs to send out email in PLAIN TEXT, not Rich Text, format.
