Good morning.

Some of our graphics people are having a problem when trying to save Photoshop files to a network drive. Once they have the file created, they save it to their space on a server specifically set up for them. But, starting last night, one of them started receiving a Delayed Write Failed message when saving a file.

PC currently having an issue:
XP Pro SP2
Processor: 3.0GHz
RAM: 1.0GB
Virtual Memory: 3.4GB
NIC: Intel(R) Pro/100 VE

We can ping the server, from her PC, with no problems and we can save the file to her PC and copy it to the server with no problems. I seem to remember reading about a known issue with Photoshop 7 and saving to network drives. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? If so, is there a better work around than saving locally and copying to the server?

Thanks Lorem.

Unfortunately, the article, and the hotfix, don’t apply to our situation:

"If the status code is c0000022 (which translates to STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED), apply the hotfix that is described in this article."

We are receiving a status code of c000020c, I’m looking this one up as well.

Additionally, I have had the user try to save other file types (Word, Excel, etc.) across the network, and they work fine. It’s starting to look more and more like an issue with Photoshop. Any other suggestions?

Adobe specifically warns against saving direct to servers. You should save locally and drag the file onto the server. Saving across a network can cause many problems.

Thanks edjh. I will pass on the information to our Media/Graphics and Marketing people. This may come in usefule for future troubleshooting.

I was able to, at least for the time being, fix the issue with SP2. I know I reported the PC as having SP2 loaded, and thought it was, but once it was loaded the issue seems to have gone away.

Nice artwork, btw.

Lorem,

Thanks for the URL. I have encountered this error with Pinnacle/Avid and USB HDDs, but never with PS. As I have not installed SP-2, I will look into the workaround mentioned in the article.

Appreciated,
Hunt

Hey everyone.

I passed on the information to our graphics people, about Adobe not supporting saving across a network. Our issue returned, even after SP2 install, the next day. Crazy!
