I’m looking for a better 2 D video card. I have an old TNT 2 now and I’d like to move up. 3 D speed is not as important as 2 D quality at high resolution (1600×1200 on a 21′ monitor)

Any suggestions?

Is Matrox still the leader? are the P750 or Parellia (sp?) still better than the ATI & NVidia offerings.

I’m using and analog Mistubishi Diamond pro, but will be moving to a LCD with digital input soon.

Matrox is still the best 2D, particularly for the price. The Matrox will handle CRT or LCD and will even let you run double monitors with one LCD and one CRT.

I’ll second that recommendation. You might also look at ATI Radeon 9200 cards. These have dual output so you can run 2 monitors and they are nearly as good as Matrox at about 60% of the cost.

Right now you won’t go wrong with any of the newer ATI cards. The nVidia image quality has improved, but IMO the ATI cards are still in the lead. Matrox is a fading into obscurity.

If the emphasis is 2d… then i don’t think you can go wrong with the Matrox cards….
